How can our people participate in conserving and developing our patrimony
Cultural heritage conservation involves protection and restoration using "any procedures that prove efficient in keeping that property in as close to its original condition as possible for as long as possible." Cultural heritage conservation is most of the time associated with art collections and museums and includes care of collection and management through tracking, examination, documentation, exhibition, storage, preventative conservation, and restoration.
The scope has greatly widened from conservation of art, involving care and protection of artwork and architecture, to cultural heritage conservation, also including maintaining and care of a broad set of other cultural and historical artifacts. Conservation of cultural heritage can be defined as a type of ethical stewardship.
Conservation of cultural heritage involves simple ethical guidelines:
- Minimal intervention
- Appropriate materials and reversible methods
- Full documentation of all work undertaken
